Income Manager is pleased to announce a new technical consultation and support service, available to Income Manager clients on a pay-per-use basis. If your organization lacks the resources to fully address your Information Technology (IT) issues, we can provide the expertise. Let us handle the common, but essential, tasks (installation, configuration, administration) that are necessary to maintain the key components of your IT environment, including data backups, email, operating systems, networks, and security. Our service is available to you on the terms that work best for you: one-off, as needed, or on a regular ongoing schedule.

Backing Up Your Data

Your organization's sensitive information is not limited to your Income Manager database. Establishing regular, reliable backups of critical data on both servers and workstations is essential to recovering from hardware and software failures. Any disaster recovery planning by your organization will depend upon your data backups. These backups also allow you to restore files that have been modified or deleted.

You may not be taking advantage of the tools you already have: your existing software (Microsoft Windows, NT, Exchange) includes utilities that can manage your data backups. We can configure these utilities or assist you with implementing new ones; in either case, we will work with you to develop the best backup solution for your organization.

We will:

  • Work with you to analyze how your organization stores its data and to identify your critical information, ensuring that all the data your organization relies upon is backed up.
  • Help you determine the best method to fulfill your backup needs with existing resources and at minimal cost - and discuss your alternatives. For example, simple steps such as purchasing an additional hard drive could significantly increase your level of data protection. We'll give you the information you need to weigh the options and reach a decision.
    We can also provide consultation on advanced solutions, should your organization require them. This includes workstation backup solutions when essential data is stored on PCs.
  • Help you develop your procedures for the backup and recovery of your data files.
  • Create and document backup plans and schedules.
  • Configure and schedule your existing Microsoft Windows backup software.
  • Implement and test your backup and recovery processes.
  • Provide assistance, should you require it, in performing your data backup and recovery.

Setting Up and Managing User Accounts

Organizations of all sizes rely on their Windows user accounts; these accounts must provide staff with convenient access to data and other resources while ensuring your network remains secure. Administering existing and new accounts is an on-going requirement, whether you're using Microsoft Active Directory or logging in to local workstation accounts.

Setting Up and Managing Email Accounts in Microsoft Outlook

Email access has become a necessary tool for nearly all members of your organization, but creating and managing the accounts can be complicated. Meanwhile, the effectiveness of your email system can be severely affected by the amount of unsolicited email (i.e., spam) you receive and the number of viruses that are commonly in circulation.

We can assist with:

  • Configuring your mail client software (Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, etc.)
  • Setting up and configuring your mail system to reduce the quantity of spam emails
  • Adding and updating email accounts for your staff

Hardware troubleshooting

Every organization knows from experience that computer hardware problems can, and do, occur. When you encounter issues with hardware, we will:

  • Use proven troubleshooting techniques to analyze the failure and identify the defective component(s)
  • Recommend options to resolve the problem
  • Install and configure the replacement hardware.

Software Installation

Organizations are regularly faced with the need to install new software. At the same time, software vendors may issue updates (“patches”) to address problems or performance issues with your existing programs.

We can:

  • Install new software (according to your organization’s standards)
  • Install, configure and schedule anti-virus and spyware programs on servers and workstations
  • Install and configure the Microsoft Windows operating system, the Microsoft Office software suite and other third-party software packages
  • Manage the process of downloading and installing any applicable updates
  • Monitor your key software for vendor updates (as an ongoing contracted service)
